Hello everyone!!! I am so excited to be writing my first blog as the author of Honey’s Diaries. Today I want to start at the beginning and talk about what I had to do to get Honey in the first place. I will be talking about where you could get a bunny from, the most sustainable method of adoption, and I will also be including my personal experience of the process I had to go through to adopt Honey.

First, I want to talk about the basics of where you could and where you should get a bunny from. There are two places you could adopt from. First, there is the breeder. Breeders are a great source if you are looking for a specific breed of rabbit that may be a more uncommon breed. But there is a downside to adopting from a breeder. The downside is that by supporting a breeder, you are missing out on an opportunity to adopt a sweet bunny from a rescue.

Now even though I definitely recommend adopting from a rescue, I believe that by adopting from a breeder as I did is also another form of adoption. This is because in a breeders home the bunny does not have a big area/room that it can stay in and it just has to live in a small cage, which does not allow room for binkies and zoomies.

The next way of adoption is by a local shelter. By adopting from a shelter you are helping a bunny that was abandoned and some of them have never been loved or have never had its own bed or chew toys. This is definitely the best way to save a bunny.

By reading this page so far you must have had an opinion about how you want to adopt your bunny. Now let’s get into sources. The breeder I got Honeys from is called Whisper lops rabbitry. Her name is Zoey and she has wonderful parent bunnies. She specifically breeds Holland lops so if that is what you are looking for definitely check her out. Whisper Lops is in Newberg Oregon but she does ship her bunnies out to all over the US.

Regarding shelters, there are bunny rescues and shelters all over the world, so no matter where you live you can always adopt a bunny from one of the rescues or shelters.
I hope this article was informational to you. See you in the next one!
